If there’s one thing that the last year has taught us it’s that nothing lasts forever.

When the Soviet Union fell, international relations experts  proclaimed that liberal democracy was about to sweep the globe. Through globalization, even the most authoritarian of societies like China would democratize in time.

However, things began falling apart with the Global Financial Crisis (07-08) and the governmental response to the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020.

The final shoe to drop was Russia’s invasion of Ukraine earlier this year. The West responded to Russia’s invasion with a slew of sanctions in efforts to topple its regime. Despite this regime change attempt via sanctions, it looks like it has economically backfired on the West.

Gas and food prices have gone through the roof, while supply chains continue to be in total disarray. It’s anyone’s guess how the economic situation will turn out.

One thing is certain, the economic stability of yesteryear was merely an illusion. People will be compelled to adapt accordingly. Or else, they will suffer.
